About the role The Painter is responsible for performing a broad range of interior and exterior painting and decorating tasks across residential, commercial, and industrial sites in accordance with client specifications, industry standards, and all applicable Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation. The role requires a trade-qualified professional who can work independently and as part of a team, consistently delivering high-quality finishes within agreed timeframes and budgets. Work in a dynamic team in St Leonards, Chatswood, Mosman and all over Sydney. Duties and Responsibilities Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, filling, patching, priming, and sealing internal and external surfaces. Apply paint, varnish, lacquer, enamel, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows, trims, and structural elements using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. Apply decorative finishes including texture coatings, feature walls, and specialist paint systems as required. Hang wallpaper, wall coverings, and decorative materials in accordance with manufacturer specifications and client requirements. Perform touch-up and make-good painting works as part of broader maintenance and cleaning contracts. Apply protective coatings, anti-graffiti treatments, and waterproofing products where required. Carry out line marking and floor coating applications on commercial and industrial surfaces. Interpret and work from plans, specifications, and work orders to deliver works to the required standard. Set up and dismantle scaffolding, ladders, and elevated work platforms (EWP) in accordance with safe work procedures and relevant NSW regulations. Ensure all work areas are left clean, tidy, and free of hazards upon completion of each task. Dispose of waste materials in accordance with environmental and site requirements. Estimate and calculate material quantities required for each job Maintain, clean, and store all tools, equipment, and materials in good working order Manage and account for company-issued materials and equipment, minimising waste and loss. Deliver all painting works to a high standard of finish consistent with client expectations and industry best practice. Identify and report defects, variations, or scope changes promptly. Complete daily job sheets, timesheets, and work orders accurately and submit in accordance with company procedures. Record material usage, site conditions, and any variations or issues encountered during works. Identify, report, and where practicable, control workplace hazards in accordance with the hierarchy of controls. Essential Skills Demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of interior and exterior painting and decorating, including surface preparation, priming, and application of a wide range of paint systems and finishes. Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and work orders. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines. Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise professionally with clients and colleagues. Capacity to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team. Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. Honesty and integrity, with respect for client property and confidentiality.
