Position Responsibilities and Tasks: Study and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications to determine fabrication requirements for mining machinery and plant equipment. Select, clean, and prepare metal stock to ensure suitability for cutting, shaping, and assembly processes. Measure, mark, and cut metal sections and components using hand tools, flame cutting torches, and metal cutting machines. Shape, bend, and form metal components and pipes using hand and machine tools, including heating and hammering techniques where required. Align and position parts accurately using measuring instruments and hand tools prior to welding or assembly. Join metal components using a range of welding techniques, as well as bolting and riveting methods to meet engineering specifications. Inspect completed welds to ensure correct bead width, penetration, strength, and overall precision in line with quality standards. Clean, smooth, and finish welded joints and fabricated components using filing, grinding, and chiselling techniques. Polish and treat finished metal products, including cleaning and surface preparation, to meet durability and presentation requirements. Carry out ongoing maintenance, repair, and modification of fabricated components to support mining operations and ensure equipment. Qualifications and Skills: Relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication or equivalent) At least two or three years of relevant experience. Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to ensure accurate fabrication work. Skilled in welding, metal fabrication, and safe use of hand and power tools to produce high quality components. Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety when working in workshop and mining site environments. Salary: This is a full-time position (minimum 38 hours per week) with a competitive salary range between $100K to $130K per annum, plus superannuation.
