As a Painter at Arkote Pty Ltd, you will be responsible for preparing metal and aluminium surfaces, applying coating systems, completing finishing work and maintaining quality standards across industrial and commercial powder coating projects. This position requires strong attention to detail, practical trade skills and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a production-focused coating environment. Responsibilities and Tasks: Prepare work areas, equipment and components for coating, including setting up ladders, stands, masking materials and protective coverings to prevent overspray or contamination. Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, smoothing, filling imperfections and sealing components to ensure coatings adhere correctly and achieve a high-quality finish. Select and prepare paints, powders, primers and coating materials in accordance with job specifications, colour requirements and Arkote's coating procedures. Apply paints, powder coatings, protective finishes and other surface treatments using appropriate brushes, rollers, spray equipment and coating systems. Inspect surfaces before, during and after coating to identify defects, uneven coverage, adhesion issues or damage, and complete touch-ups or rework where required. Clean and maintain spray guns, coating equipment, tools and work areas to support safe, efficient and compliant production operations. Assist with abrasive blasting, masking, hanging and handling of metal and aluminium components for commercial and industrial coating projects. Follow job cards, production schedules and quality control requirements to complete coating work on time and to customer specifications. Work safely with coating materials, chemicals, powders and workshop equipment, following workplace health and safety procedures at all times. Coordinate with supervisors and team members to manage workflow, identify material requirements and support efficient pick-up, delivery and turnaround of customer goods. Qualifications and Skills: Relevant qualification. Minimum 1 year experience as a Painter Ability to prepare, coat and finish metal and aluminium components to a high standard. Knowledge of surface preparation, masking, spray application and protective coating processes. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify coating defects or finish inconsistencies. Commitment to safe work practices in a production or workshop environment. Salary: The role offers a remuneration package ranging from $80,000 p.a plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
