OzFish Unlimited is a national NGO dedicated to helping the millions of Aussie recreational fishers take action for the health of their waterways and shore up the future of the sport they love. OzFish partners with fishers, stakeholders and the broader community to invest resources into restoring habitats and waterways, counteracting decades of degradation. OzFish is seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer for our Murray Darling Basin team based in the Northern Basin covering north western NSW and south western Qld, between Tamworth and Goondiwindi preferred. Working under the direction of the Basin Program Manager, you will be responsible for: Implementing fish habitat restoration projects, aligned to OzFish’s broader Programs between across the Northern Basin (NSW and Qld). Managing and supporting the development of up to 5 Chapters, with at least 30 volunteers in each. Working with their Executives to grow each Chapter and their activities in the region. Engaging with key stakeholders, including traditional owner groups, community groups, local council, industry partners and university researchers. Project management including, budget management, analysing data and preparation of technical project reports. Organising and attending events, aimed at building membership, engaging fishers and the broader community in waterway monitoring and other OzFish activities in the Northern Basin. Communication and promotion of OzFish activities (including regular social media interactions, managing local Chapter Facebook pages) Expect weekly local travel within the Northern Basin region. We are looking for someone enthusiastic about fish habitat and fishing who wants to make a difference to aquatic environments. Key skills: Qualification in Environmental Science, Aquatic Biology or similar Demonstrated understanding of aquatic environments and their threats, especially in coastal NSW. Willingness to engage the community and manage volunteers (past experience beneficial) Experience in community communication and promotion, especially through social media Willingness to travel, current drivers licence and suitable vehicle for local travel.
