With a strong customer base, significant product investment and a modernisation roadmap underway, they're looking to add a Senior Backend Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and building software that operates at scale. This is a role for someone who wants to get beyond feature delivery and have genuine influence over architecture, engineering standards and the future direction of critical systems. The Opportunity You'll join a collaborative engineering team responsible for services that process large volumes of business-critical data every day. The environment is heavily focused on cloud technologies, automation, reliability and modern engineering practices. You'll work on everything from backend services and APIs through to platform improvements, performance optimisation and cloud transformation initiatives. What You'll Be Working On Building scalable backend applications and services Designing solutions that prioritise performance, reliability and maintainability Modernising legacy systems and helping drive cloud adoption Working closely with product and engineering teams to solve complex business challenges Improving deployment processes, automation and engineering efficiency Investigating production issues and driving long-term improvements Contributing to architectural discussions and technical direction Mentoring engineers and sharing best practices across the team What We're Looking For We're less concerned about your exact background and more interested in engineers who have experience building robust systems in complex environments. You'll likely bring experience across: Backend software engineering Distributed systems or microservices AWS or other cloud platforms Python, C#, Rust or similar backend technologies API design and integration SQL and data-intensive applications CI/CD and modern DevOps practices Infrastructure automation and cloud-native development Exposure to C++ or willingness to learn to support legacy/on-prem systems Experience within SaaS, fintech, financial services or other large-scale technology environments will be highly regarded.
