Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitters – Pooraka SA Role Type: Casual / Ongoing Hours: 6am to 2pm plus OT Rate: $54 per hour plus penalties and super We are seeking highly skilled and safety-driven Mechanical Fitters to join our maintenance team at a raw materials facility in Pooraka. The Role Working within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for carrying out preventative and breakdown maintenance across a range of fixed plant and production equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. This is a hands-on role where safety, reliability, and teamwork are key to maintaining production targets and minimising downtime. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on fixed plant equipment. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults across conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, crushers, motors, valves, and associated plant equipment. Conduct inspections, servicing, and equipment condition monitoring. Replace and overhaul mechanical components including bearings, shafts, pumps, belts, chains, and hydraulic systems. Complete equipment alignments, installations, and shutdown maintenance activities. Carry out welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs as required. Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams to minimise operational downtime. Complete maintenance documentation and work orders accurately. Adhere to all site safety procedures and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. About You To be successful in this role, you will be a safety-focused Mechanical Fitter with strong fault-finding abilities and experience working within industrial, manufacturing, quarrying, cement, mining, or heavy process environments. Essential Requirements Mechanical Trade Qualification (Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent). Previous experience performing maintenance within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills. Current Driver's Licence and reliable transport. Ability to work safely and effectively within a team environment. Basic computer skills for maintenance reporting and work management systems. Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening. Desirable Experience Experience working within cement, quarrying, mining, manufacturing, or fixed plant environments. Experience with conveyors, crushers, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment. Welding and fabrication experience. Working at Heights and Confined Space certifications. Forklift, EWP, or Dogging/Rigging tickets. Experience participating in shutdowns and major maintenance activities.
