The Opportunity An exciting leadership opportunity exists for an experienced Cyber Security professional to lead cyber operations capability within a sophisticated enterprise environment. You will provide both technical leadership and operational oversight of cyber monitoring, threat detection, incident response and threat hunting activities. The Role As the Assistant Director, you will lead a team responsible for identifying, investigating and responding to cyber security incidents across a large-scale and globally connected network. You will provide direction to cyber analysts, coordinate incident response activities and drive continuous improvement across security monitoring, detection engineering and threat hunting functions. Your key responsibilities will include: Leading and developing a team of cyber security analysts and specialists Overseeing security monitoring and cyber incident response activities Investigating and coordinating responses to complex cyber security events Developing and enhancing detection use cases to identify malicious activity and emerging threats Leading proactive threat hunting activities across enterprise environments Coordinating cyber security resources during incidents and priority events Collaborating with cyber security, infrastructure and technology teams to strengthen defensive capabilities. Analysing cyber threats, vulnerabilities and adversary techniques to improve organisational resilience. Providing strategic direction for cyber operations capability development Preparing technical and executive-level reporting on cyber security incidents and trends The Ideal Person You will have experience working within Cyber Operations Centres (SOC) or enterprise cyber security environments. You need to have demonstrated experience leading or supporting cyber security incident response activities. You have experience working within the Federal Government, Defence or other large complex organisations or consulting firms. You are currently working as an EL1 SOC Lead or APS6 SOC/Cyber Analyst or an experienced practitioner with team leadership responsibilities, looking to step into or further develop at the EL1 level. You will have experience using cyber security technologies such as Splunk, Microsoft Defender, Nuix and related security platforms. Relevant cyber security, ICT or technology qualifications and/or industry certifications is highly desirable.
