The Opportunity An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced cyber security professional to lead a specialist Cyber Risk, Governance and Compliance function within a high-performing technology division. Reporting to the Director, you will lead a team responsible for cyber assurance activities across a large-scale enterprise environment, providing trusted advice on cyber risk, governance, compliance and security controls. This role offers significant stakeholder engagement, leadership responsibility and the opportunity to influence cyber security outcomes at a strategic level. The Role As the Assistant Director, you will provide leadership and direction to a team delivering cyber security assurance services across a complex ICT environment. You will work closely with technical specialists, business stakeholders and external partners to ensure cyber security risks are identified, managed and mitigated while supporting the organisation's broader technology and business objectives. Your key responsibilities will include: Leading and developing a high-performing cyber security risk, governance and compliance team Delivering cyber security assurance, assessment and advisory services across enterprise ICT systems and networks Providing expert advice on cyber security risk management and security controls Developing, reviewing and maintaining cyber security policies, standards and governance documentation Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, government agencies and industry partners Supporting project and program delivery through effective cyber security guidance and oversight Monitoring the emerging cyber threats, risks and compliance obligations to support informed decision-making Translating complex technical concepts into clear business-focused recommendations The Ideal Person You are an experienced cyber security leader with strong risk, governance and assurance expertise, gained through experience across government, defence, critical infrastructure, and complex enterprise environments. You are currently working as an EL1 Cyber GRC Analyst, an APS6 Cyber GRC professional, or an experienced cybersecurity practitioner with team leadership responsibilities who is seeking to further develop your capabilities or transition into an EL1 level role. You will have experience leading teams and delivering cyber security, risk, governance or assurance functions. You will also have strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks, compliance requirements and risk management practices. Qualifications, certifications or equivalent experience in Cyber Security, Information Security, Risk Management or Project Management are desirable.
