Full-time Accountant position available in Turner ACT 2612. AEI Insurance Group is an established Australian insurance broking and financial services organisation providing insurance and risk management solutions to clients across Australia. Due to ongoing operational requirements and increasing financial reporting and compliance obligations, the company is seeking an experienced Accountant to support the financial operations of its Canberra office. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting business operations, and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting and taxation requirements. Position Responsibilities and Tasks Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, reconciliations, and journal entries in accordance with accounting standards and company requirements. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of payments, collections, and accurate maintenance of financial records. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis activities to support operational and management reporting requirements. Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, including account reconciliations, accruals, adjustments, and preparation of supporting financial documentation. Monitor insurance-related financial transactions including premiums, commissions, and claims while ensuring compliance with BAS, PAYG, superannuation, taxation, and other regulatory obligations. Qualifications and Skills Essential: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience Strong understanding of accounting principles and Australian taxation requirements Experience preparing financial reports, reconciliations, and budgeting activities Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills Desirable: Previous experience within insurance, financial services, or corporate environments Experience using accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel functions Understanding of Australian accounting standards and compliance obligations Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work within fast-paced business environments Salary: This is a full-time position with a competitive remuneration package ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 per annum plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
