About the Role As our project portfolio grows, so does the need for strong financial oversight behind it. As our Project Finance Officer, you’ll keep project costs controlled, claims moving, and reporting accurate. You’ll work closely with our Project Managers and Operations Manager — making sure the business has a clear picture of where each project stands commercially, and that risks are flagged early. Your Responsibilities Project Financial Management — Set up and maintain head contracts, project budgets, cost codes, contract values, purchase orders, change events, and variations Invoicing & Cost Processing — Process project invoices, subcontractor claims, supplier costs, and delivery dockets with accurate cost allocation and document approval workflows Cost Control & Commercial Support — Work with Project Managers to maintain cost-to-complete and forecast final cost positions; monitor actuals against budget and escalate variances Progress Claims & WIP — Prepare monthly progress claims in line with contract terms and Security of Payment legislation; track payment schedules, certificates, retentions, and bank guarantees Month-End Reporting — Produce monthly project P&L, WIP, cash, and margin reports with clear commentary for Project Managers, the Operations Manager, and the Corporate Services Manager Systems & Controls — Maintain reconciliation between project management and financial systems; ensure compliance with IET’s delegations of authority, purchasing controls, and approval workflows Continuous Improvement — Identify and implement improvements to project accounting processes, controls, and systems What You’ll Bring A bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Accounting Membership to the Institute of Chartered Accountants or CPA Australia (or working towards) Excellent analytical skills and the ability to drive outcomes A working knowledge of Accounting Standards Solid experience in project accounting, construction finance, or a similar building sector Strong understanding of WIP, progress claims, and Security of Payment legislation Experience maintaining cost-to-complete and forecast positions across multiple active projects Confidence working across project management and financial systems — and keeping them reconciled Clear communicator who can translate financial detail into actionable information for non-finance stakeholders High attention to detail and a genuine sense of ownership over your work Experience with Xero and Procore will be highly regarded Why IET?
