About the Role This is a full-time, site-based senior technical role, reporting into the Operations & Maintenance team. You will lead the safe and reliable operation, maintenance and optimisation of electrical, instrumentation and control (E&I) systems across renewable and hydrogen assets, with a primary focus on the 1MW Sun HQ Hydrogen Hub. You will act as the shift technical authority, combining hands-on field work with advanced diagnostic capability, operational decision-making, and maintenance governance. The role is central to ensuring safe hydrogen production, high plant availability, and continuous improvement in performance and reliability. You may also provide technical support to other assets, including the Sun Metals Solar Farm and Northern Territory solar and battery storage systems. Key responsibilities include: Leading safe operation of hydrogen production, compression, storage and dispensing systems Acting as shift technical lead during abnormal events, faults and plant upsets Monitoring and optimising plant performance using SCADA, alarms and operational data Conducting and overseeing isolations, start-ups, shutdowns and reinstatement activities Providing advanced fault finding across PLCs, instrumentation, LV/HV systems and safety systems Leading diagnosis and root cause analysis of complex E&I failures Overseeing calibrations, loop checks, functional testing and protection/interlock testing Supporting commissioning, upgrades, plant modifications and performance testing Ensuring accurate maintenance documentation, CMMS records and compliance reporting Supporting contractors and junior technicians to ensure safe and standardised work practices Contributing to reliability improvement, SOP development and continuous improvement initiatives What You’ll Need Essential Queensland Electrical Fitter/Mechanic Licence Certificate III in Instrumentation & Control Strong E&I fault-finding and diagnostic capability Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics and control logic Current Queensland Driver’s Licence Desirable Experience in hydrogen, gas processing or industrial process plants Hazardous Area (EEHA) certification HV switching/authorisation or experience in HV environments Experience with PLCs, SCADA and industrial automation systems Exposure to solar PV and battery energy storage systems Benefits Competitive remuneration package Opportunity to work in Australia’s emerging hydrogen and renewable energy sector Ongoing technical training and professional development Exposure to multi-asset renewable energy operations Employee Assistance Program (EAP) support On-call and overtime opportunities where applicable Click the ‘Apply’ button and submit your Resume and Cover Letter outlining your experience and suitability for the role.
