About Roundabout Canberra Roundabout Canberra is a Canberra-based charity supporting babies, children and families across the region through the provision of safe, high-quality essential items. Working alongside more than 140 frontline social service organisations and powered by over 300 volunteers, Roundabout Canberra supports thousands of children each year, ensuring children have the essentials they need to feel safe, warm and included. Established in 2018, Roundabout Canberra is a Company Limited by Guarantee and a registered charity with the ACNC. The organisation continues to experience significant growth in both demand and impact across Canberra and surrounding regions. The Opportunity Roundabout Canberra is seeking a Volunteer Board Member to join its engaged and values-driven Board during a period of continued growth and increasing community demand. This is an opportunity to contribute strategically to a growing Canberra organisation making a real difference in the lives of local children and families. The Board plays an active role in guiding the organisation’s long-term direction, sustainability and impact. This role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys connecting people, building relationships, and helping strengthen partnerships, sponsorships, community support and long-term sustainability. You will join a collaborative Board and leadership team committed to practical support, dignity and genuine community connection, while helping shape the future of an organisation whose impact continues to grow across the Canberra region. The Role As a Board Member, you will: Contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the organisation Support broader Board discussions and planning Help strengthen community awareness and advocacy for Roundabout Canberra Leverage professional and community networks to support partnerships and opportunities Facilitate introductions across corporate, government and community sectors Support opportunities for sponsorships, partnerships, grants and fundraising You will work collaboratively with the Chair, CEO and broader Board to support the organisation’s continued growth and impact. The Ideal Person You may already have Board experience, or this may represent your first formal Board appointment. What matters most is your ability to think strategically, contribute positively within a collaborative environment and bring genuine passion for community impact. The organisation is interested in hearing from candidates who enjoy building relationships, connecting people and helping strengthen partnerships and long-term sustainability. You will likely bring: Strong communication and relationship-building capability Strategic and lateral thinking skills High levels of integrity, judgement and collaboration Professional or community networks that could support partnerships or funding opportunities The ability to advocate for Roundabout Canberra within the broader Canberra community Experience in communications, marketing, media, partnerships, stakeholder engagement or fundraising would be highly regarded, though not essential. The Board also welcomes interest from candidates bringing other skills, experiences and perspectives that could strengthen the organisation’s governance and future direction. Time Commitment The expected commitment is approximately 4 to 6 hours per month and includes: Quarterly Board meetings (2 in-person and 2 online annually) Participation in strategic planning sessions Reviewing Board papers and organisational updates Ad hoc support to the Chair and CEO where appropriate Roundabout Canberra maintains appropriate governance structures and Directors & Officers insurance for Board members.
