Job Description – Floor Finisher Position Title: Carpentry/ Floor Finisher Employment Type: Full-time Location: Sydney, NSW Salary: AUD $77,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation About the Company: Cronulla Carpets is a long established company based in the Sutherland Shire and servicing the wider Sydney Area. We specialise in Carpet, Timber Flooring and Vinyl installations, in the retail, commercial, hospitality & healthcare sectors. About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Floor Finisher to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, installing, repairing, sanding, and finishing a variety of flooring materials for residential and commercial projects—preferred candidates with a carpentry background. Key Responsibilities: Measure and prepare floor surfaces for installation Install timber, vinyl, laminate, carpet, parquetry, and other floor coverings Cut flooring materials to required sizes and specifications Sand, stain, polish, and finish timber floors Apply adhesives, sealants, and protective coatings Repair damaged flooring and replace worn materials Remove old floor coverings and prepare subfloors Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications Ensure all work is completed to high-quality and safety standards Maintain tools, equipment, and clean work areas Skills and Qualifications: Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience Minimum 2–3 years full time relevant industry experience Knowledge of flooring installation techniques and materials Ability to use flooring tools and wood machinery safely Strong practical skills in surface preparation, including levelling, grinding, and the application of adhesives and screeds Ability to accurately read and interpret site plans, technical drawings, and material specifications Sound numeracy skills for measuring, estimating material quantities, and managing waste Knowledge of and commitment to workplace health and safety standards, including manual handling best practices and the safe use of tools and equipment Ability to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively within a broader construction team Strong attention to detail and a high standard of personal workmanship Current driver's licence and reliable transport to travel between project sites as required White Card preferred Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move flooring materials Comfortable kneeling, bending, and standing for extended periods Ability to work on construction and renovation sites Benefits: Competitive salary package Stable full-time employment Supportive team environment Opportunities for overtime and career growth
