AO5 Workplace Health & Safety Advisor – Construction & Maintenance $69.21 per hour superannuation QLD Government Contract: ASAP – 23 October 2026 with highly likely ongoing contract extension About the Role An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Workplace Health & Safety Advisor to support regional operations within a government business department. This role plays a key part in ensuring workplace safety compliance, supporting operational teams, and contributing to continuous improvement in WHS&E practices across worksites and contractor activities. Key Responsibilities Conduct site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure compliance across internal and contractor-delivered works Provide WHS&E advice and guidance to operational, supervisory and management staff in line with Safety Management System (SMS) requirements and legislation Support the development and delivery of WHS&E training and information sessions Assist with incident investigation, reporting, and management of notifiable incidents Support worker rehabilitation and return-to-work programs under guidance Contribute to emergency planning and response coordination across offices and depots Assist in the development, review and implementation of SWMS, risk assessments and WHS Management Plans Prepare and contribute to regular WHS&E reporting across regional operations Support delivery of health and safety initiatives tailored to stakeholder needs About You Demonstrated experience in Workplace Health & Safety within construction, infrastructure, QLD Government or a similar environment Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and safety management systems Ability to conduct audits, investigations and risk assessments Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels Proven ability to support training and awareness initiatives Highly organised with strong reporting and documentation skills Current and valid driver’s licence (mandatory) Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety (highly desirable) Apply To be considered for this position, please apply directly below, with an updated CV and cover letter in Microsoft Word format.
