The Opportunity An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse/Midwife (Dual Qualified) or Registered Midwife to join the Women’s Unit team in Mackay on either a full time or part time basis. We are open to candidates seeking either a permanent position or a 3–6 month contract opportunity, with FIFO arrangements also considered. This role is ideally suited to a dual-qualified nurse/midwife who is confident supporting across both maternity services and ward-based nursing when required. Working alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to exceptional patient outcomes while further developing your clinical expertise in a supportive and rewarding environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver high quality patient care by applying contemporary nursing and midwifery clinical skills, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective care coordination, collaboration, and communication. Build meaningful relationships with patients and their support networks, ensuring care is delivered with compassion, empathy, and professionalism. Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and develop personalised care plans tailored to individual patient needs. Coordinate discharge planning and provide education, resources, and support services to patients and families to ensure continuity of care. Support and mentor colleagues and nursing students, contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture. Work collaboratively across maternity and ward settings to support operational and patient care requirements. Provide comprehensive care to women throughout antenatal, labour, birth, and postnatal stages. Deliver care within Birth Suite and Special Care Nursery environments, including caring for neonates from 32 weeks’ gestation and above. About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Qualifications as either: A Registered Nurse with dual Midwifery qualifications; or A Registered Midwife. Previous experience within maternity and/or acute care environments relevant to the role. Current life support competencies applicable to the clinical setting. Demonstrated experience within Birth Suite and Special Care Nursery settings. Confidence working across both maternity and ward-based nursing environments when required. A strong commitment to best practice, continuous improvement, and patient centred care. Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical assessment skills. A proactive and compassionate approach to patient care and team collaboration. What’s in it for You?
