POSITION NAVAL ARCHITECT / MARINE ENGINEER DEPARTMENT Naval Architecture / Engineering REPORTS TO Design Manager SUPERVISES N/A POSITION PURPOSE Naval architecture, marine and mechanical design activities involving design tasks associated with ship modifications and new construction. QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE · Bachelor of Engineering (Naval Architecture) Alternative Qualifications · Bachelor of Engineering (Ocean Engineering) or · Bachelor of Engineering (Marine & Offshore Engineering) or · Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) · 3-5 years of naval architecture or marine engineering experience preferred. · Australian citizenship or permanent residency required for this position. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES · Capability to calculate weight estimates and vessel hydrostatics. · Capability to perform trim and stability calculations. · Competent in structure design to classification society rules. · Competent in FEA analysis application and principles. · Proficiency in any recognised FEA analysis software application required. · Competent in vessel component design and mechanical services design. · Quality assurance and documentation skills. GENERIC RESPONSIBILITIES · Produce, check and approve concept, detail and construction drawings. · Issue work to trades pool, including technical drawings to trades pool. · Provides necessary advice to trades pool. · Ensure version control on all drawings and documentation. · Provide design calculations for projects. · Follow all Business Management Procedures that relate to this position. · Oversee and implement policies related to quality, environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and corporate governance. PROJECT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES · Liaise with clients. · Liaise with class, flag and ship owners as required. · Produce project specific documentation as directed by the Project Manager. · Maintain version control on all drawings and documentation. · Ensure incoming equipment / goods are inspected prior to acceptance. · Ensure outgoing goods and products are inspected and signed off prior to use or dispatch. · Maintain WH&S requirements.
