About the Role Airswift is partnering with a major energy and infrastructure client to deliver one of the largest high-voltage substation projects in Australia , operating at 220kV and above . We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong Electrical Engineering background to lead end-to-end delivery of this landmark HV substation project. The role is Sydney-based , with frequent site visits required during key delivery milestones. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a nationally significant transmission asset and work at the forefront of Australia’s energy transition. Total package up to $270k inclusive of super , depending on experience. Key Responsibilities Lead the full lifecycle delivery of a major HV substation project (220kV) , from detailed design through construction, commissioning, and handover. Act as the primary point of accountability for programme, cost, quality, and safety outcomes . Manage and coordinate EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, and internal stakeholders across multiple workstreams. Oversee electrical scope including primary plant, protection & control, SCADA, secondary systems, and grid interface requirements . Provide strong governance around commercial management, variations, risk, and change control . Ensure compliance with Australian standards, network operator requirements, and WHS legislation . Interface with transmission network service providers, regulators, and asset owners. Conduct regular site visits , inspections, and progress reviews to ensure construction aligns with design intent and contractual obligations. Lead project reporting, forecasting, and executive-level updates. Support commissioning, energisation planning, and final asset handover documentation. Foster a performance-driven, safety-first culture across all project participants. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory). 8 years’ experience delivering large-scale HV substation or transmission infrastructure projects (220kV). Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer on complex, high-value electrical infrastructure projects. Strong technical understanding of HV systems, protection schemes, and grid connection requirements. Demonstrated capability managing EPC or multi-contractor delivery models . Solid commercial acumen, including contract administration and claims management. Excellent stakeholder engagement, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to operate effectively between a Sydney-based office environment and site when required. Highly organised, resilient, and outcomes-focused.
