About the Position: The Chef plays a central role in the success of Imperial Indian Restaurant by leading the kitchen team in the preparation and execution of authentic Indian dishes. This full-time position involves planning, organising, and delivering high-quality meals that uphold the restaurant's reputation for excellence, while ensuring consistency, efficiency, and adherence to food safety standards in a busy foreshore dining environment. Key Responsibilities: Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order supplies while specialising in Indian cuisine Prepare, season, and cook a variety of authentic Indian dishes including curries, tandoori items, breads, and vegetarian specialties Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation to maintain high standards Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise on procedures to kitchen staff Discuss food preparation issues with managers and waiting staff to ensure smooth service Maintain strict hygiene, food safety, and cleaning standards in line with Australian regulations Contribute to recipe development and adaptation to meet customer preferences, including dietary requirements Requirements : Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply. Cert III and IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management. Minimum 2.5 years' experience in an Indian restaurant. Strong technical skills in authentic Indian cooking techniques (tandoor, curries, masalas, etc.), ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment, excellent teamwork and communication skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional food quality and customer satisfaction.
