Fixed Term, Full Time Appointment | Contract until July 2027 Professional Employee Level 9 Annual salary $126,028 – $133,103pa 17% superannuation & 6 weeks annual leave Casuarina Campus | Larrakia Country The Learning Specialist (Inclusive Practice) works closely with Associate Director Curriculum, Assessment and Teacher Development to provide leadership within the EdUplift initiative to embed inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive design across CDU’s courses and units. About the Position Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role identifies and drives opportunities to enhance learning by reviewing, influencing, and improving curriculum frameworks, systems, and production processes, from ideation through to implementation. The position is student and learning-centered, with a strong focus on long-term, systemic change that enhances the CDU student experience. It leverages the strengths of First Nations students, students with disabilities, and those from low-SES, regional, and remote backgrounds and applies an intersectional lens to transform systems into more equitable and supportive environments. Acting as a strategic advisor, the role influences curriculum at unit, course, and policy levels, ensuring inclusive pedagogies are embedded as standard practice. It remains responsive and adaptive to emerging challenges, including the implications of Generative AI and assistive technologies on equity and access. The role maintains strong engagement with current research and sector developments, building national connections (e.g. student equity and success networks) and acting as a conduit to translate leading practice into CDU’s context. About You To be successful, you will require: Inclusive Design Expertise: Deep expertise in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive pedagogies, with demonstrated application at scale. Indigenous Pedagogy Leadership: Proven leadership in embedding First Nations knowledges and perspectives through Indigenous-led co-design and culturally safe frameworks. Equity and Disability-Informed Practice: Demonstrated application of disability-led or equity informed approaches (lived experience or professional practice) to improve access, participation, and success for underrepresented students. Emerging Technologies and AI: Advanced understanding of Generative AI and educational technologies, including their differential impact on diverse learners, and ability to apply these strategically to enhance equity. Strategic Capability Building: Demonstrated success in designing and leading professional learning initiatives that build sustained capability in inclusive curriculum and teaching practice. Systemic Change and Policy Influence: Proven ability to conceptualise, develop, and influence institutional policies, frameworks, and processes that support large-scale change. Leadership and Collaboration: Strong leadership capability with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams in structured delivery environments (e.g., sprint-based models). Analytical and Reporting Expertise: High-level ability to use data, analytics, and research to evaluate impact and inform reporting to senior leadership. Desirable Selection Criteria Northern Territory Cultural Context: Demonstrated understanding of the social, cultural, and linguistic diversity of First Nations communities in the Northern Territory, with the ability to apply this knowledge to inform culturally responsive, Indigenous-led co-design practices. Regional and Remote Expertise: Proven experience designing and delivering education for regional and remote contexts, with a deep understanding of geographic, digital, and socioeconomic barriers and how these impact student access, participation, and success. Advanced Qualifications: A Master’s degree (or higher) in Education, Indigenous Studies, or a related field, evidencing advanced theoretical knowledge and a commitment to inclusive and equity-focused pedagogical research. Advanced Data and Impact Analytics: Demonstrated capability in using data analytics and visualisation tools to evaluate student outcomes, measure program impact, and inform strategic decision-making and reporting (e.g., equity performance, needs-based funding). Professional and Sector Engagement: Established national and/or international networks in student equity, inclusive design, or higher education practice, with the ability to translate emerging research and sector trends into institutional innovation. Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory National Criminal History check and a valid NT Working with Children clearance Remuneration Appointment to this role will be at Professional Employee Level 9. The base salary will be in the range of $126,028 - $133,103 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $147,452 - $155,730 per annum, including 17% superannuation.
