What are we looking for? The Software Engineer plays a key role in the design, development, testing and delivery of high-quality applications and platforms supporting a major technology transformation. The role focuses on building and modernising platforms, engineering practices and delivery models to improve scalability, resilience and business agility. What you’ll do? •Design and build cloud-first, scalable and resilient applications using modern engineering practices. •Develop solutions primarily in Node.js with strong software engineering fundamentals and SOLID principles. •Champion serverless and event-driven architectures, using containers where appropriate. •Build distributed systems using messaging, queues, topics and asynchronous patterns. •Deliver reliable, secure and cost-effective cloud solutions with strong operational focus. •Apply expertise across cloud technologies including compute, networking, security, identity and observability. •Design and optimise NoSQL data models for scalability, resilience and performance. •Make practical technology decisions based on business outcomes and operational suitability. •Collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver clear outcomes. •Contribute to continuous improvement, technical excellence and engineering best practices across teams. What will you bring? •Strong experience building and supporting scalable, distributed cloud applications. •Deep understanding of cloud architecture, including security, networking, resilience and observability. •Hands-on experience with serverless and event-driven architectures. •Strong programming skills, ideally in Node.js. •Experience designing and optimising NoSQL databases and data models. •Strong knowledge of Agile delivery and modern DevSecOps practices. •Experience with Azure, Cosmos DB and highly available, fault-tolerant systems. •Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. •Ability to influence engineering best practices and mentor other engineers. •Azure certifications and React.js experience highly regarded.
