Avant Risk Advisory Services provide tailored risk management advice and education to doctors who are Avant members and medical practices with an Avant Practice Medical Indemnity Policy. About the role We are seeking a Risk Adviser to join the Avant Melbourne team on a permanent full-time basis. This unique role will see you delivering Risk Advisory Services through medical practitioner risk assessments, practice risk assessments, educational presentations, and written advice. You will play a critical role in strengthening patient safety, quality, and risk awareness across healthcare. Key Responsibilities Deliver Risk Advisory Services to members and medical practices to improve quality, safety, and professionalism. Conduct practitioner and practice risk assessments with a focus on clinical governance and patient safety outcomes Develop and present medico‑legal risk management content at events. Represent Avant in a manner consistent with Avant’s member engagement values Help build efficiency of risk advisory services processes and align with Avant priorities Engage with internal stakeholders to identify areas of risk and collaborate to develop strategies to reduce potential claims exposure Skills and Experience Required Knowledge of safety and quality principles and their application in a healthcare setting The ability to work proactively with doctors, societies, and practices to highlight risks and provide strategic insights to promote safe, high‑quality care Demonstrated experience working in a clinical, practice, medical indemnity insurance or other healthcare environments as a nurse, practice manager, risk adviser or in healthcare safety and quality. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal Strong relationship management and influencing skills Computer literacy and the ability to learn and use various systems to document and manage workload Desirable to have a tertiary qualification in a health‑related field Desirable to have an understanding or interest in current health legislation and guidelines
