An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Operational Engineer to drive both the operational excellence and technical advancement of battery technology systems for our client. We’re partnering with a cutting-edge battery technology business that’s looking to fill a role that goes beyond day-to-day operations, you will actively contribute to improving battery performance, advancing product design and accelerating the transition from R&D to scalable deployment. Own reliability and performance of battery systems across manufacturing, testing, and field environments Lead root cause analysis and implement robust engineering fixes Work with R&D to translate prototypes into scalable products Improve energy density, cycle life, thermal performance and efficiency Contribute to Battery Management Systems (BMS) and control strategies Design and optimise manufacturing and assembly processes Use data to drive decisions — from performance analysis to predictive modelling Partner cross-functionally to accelerate new product introduction (NPI) Ensure systems meet safety, compliance and certification requirements What you’ll bring Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering (or similar) ~3–7 years in battery tech, energy storage, or advanced manufacturing Strong understanding of lithium-ion systems & electrochemistry Experience across the product lifecycle (concept ? commercialisation) Data-driven mindset with strong analytical capability Nice to have: Battery modelling, degradation or thermal simulation BMS / embedded systems / control algorithms DOE, Lean or Six Sigma exposure Experience scaling hardware products Who you are A systems thinker who sees the full picture, not just components Naturally curious — you want to push technology forward, not just maintain it Comfortable operating between R&D and operations Collaborative and commercially aware The opportunity This isn’t a maintenance role — it’s a build, improve and scale role.
