Location: Brisbane, Queensland Remote: Hybrid Type: Contract Job 18487 About the role Our state government client is looking for an experienced Technical Engineer to support the delivery of critical cyber security uplift initiatives across a complex ICT environment. You will provide technical oversight and hands-on delivery across cyber security projects aligned to Queensland Government Information Standards, particularly IS18 and the Essential 8 framework. The role will involve working closely with technical stakeholders to deliver key milestones, manage risks, and support security improvement activities. The successful candidate will contribute to strengthening cyber resilience through technical controls, vulnerability management, incident management, security hardening, and infrastructure uplift initiatives. Key Responsibilities Lead hands-on technical delivery for cyber security uplift initiatives and projects Deliver Essential 8 uplift activities across enterprise environments Perform operating system patching and OS upgrades across desktop and server environments Support decommissioning of systems and technical services Contribute to business continuity, backup, and high-availability uplift initiatives Prepare technical documentation, implementation plans, procedures, and status reports Coordinate technical resources and cross-functional teams to deliver project outcomes Manage technical change activities within a complex ICT environment Identify technical risks, gaps, weaknesses, and mitigation strategies Ensure delivery of technical activities within agreed scope and timeframes Engage with technical teams to coordinate cross-stream activities Provide technical guidance and coaching to team members where required Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across internal and external teams Participate in workshops, project meetings, and ad-hoc cyber security initiatives Highly desirable criteria Demonstrated experience delivering cyber security uplift initiatives within enterprise ICT environments Strong hands-on experience with Essential 8 implementation and uplift activities Experience working within hybrid cloud and on-premise environments Experience with Microsoft Security Products and Microsoft cloud technologies Strong understanding of cyber security frameworks including ISO270001 and Queensland Government IS18 Experience delivering vulnerability remediation, patching, and security hardening activities Ability to coordinate technical delivery across multiple stakeholders and technical teams Desirable criteria Experience with M365 and Azure technologies Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy Exposure to SIEM and logging platforms Experience with Multi-factor Authentication solutions Experience with Windows 11 environments Experience with virtualisation technologies Ability to produce clear technical documentation, processes, and procedures Previous government experience highly regarded Skills and experience Proven experience in technical engineering within cyber security environments Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving capability Ability to manage competing priorities within project-driven environments Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills Experience working in complex enterprise ICT environments Ability to analyse technical risks and provide practical recommendations Strong organisational and coordination skills Ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams Experience supporting infrastructure, cloud, and security technologies Benefits Hybrid working arrangement Opportunity to contribute to major cyber security uplift initiatives Convenient Brisbane location Contact Details For a confidential chat, please contact Anissa on 0484 568 874 or via email at anissa@exclaim-it.com.au and we would be more than happy to provide you with additional information and assist in the application process.
