As an Environmental Health Officer, you will be responsible for conducting inspections, providing advice to businesses and residents, and ensuring compliance with relevant public health legislation. The role will see you working closely with local food operators, accommodation providers, and property owners across both townships and rural areas. Key Responsibilities Conduct inspections of food premises to ensure compliance with food safety legislation and minimise public health risks Undertake septic tank and onsite wastewater inspections across rural and residential properties Investigate complaints and public health matters across the municipality Monitor and enforce compliance with relevant Environmental Health legislation and regulations Issue improvement notices and undertake enforcement action where required Provide advice and education to businesses, residents, and stakeholders on public health requirements Prepare inspection reports, correspondence, and compliance documentation To be successful in this role, you will have: Previous experience as an Environmental Health Officer within a Victorian local council A Bachelor of Health Science (Environmental Health) or other recognised qualification Strong experience conducting food premises inspections Exposure to septic tank and onsite wastewater management inspections is highly regarded Sound knowledge of Environmental Health legislation and regulatory frameworks Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and report writing skills The ability to work autonomously across a broad rural municipality A current Victorian Driver’s License This is an excellent opportunity for an EHO looking for a diverse and community-focused role within a supportive rural council environment.
