Working closely with the Head Coach, it focuses on athlete development and progression, while building strong relationships with the school and families to support a positive team culture. About Toowoomba Grammar School Toowoomba Grammar School was founded in 1875 and is a member school of the Great Public Schools Association of Queensland (GPS). It is an independent non-denominational day and boarding school for boys with a total enrolment of 1,200 from Preparatory to Year 12. There are approximately 300 boarders in the School coming predominantly from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory. About the Position This pivotal role contributes to the delivery of a high quality swimming program that supports athletes from post learn to swim through to Australian Age and Open competition levels. Working closely with the Head of Swimming/Head Coach, this position focuses on athlete development, squad progression, and pathway planning, while fostering strong relationships with students, families, and the broader school and club community. The role involves coaching across multiple squads, supporting training design and delivery, contributing to competitions and events, and maintaining high standards of safety, wellbeing, and program administration. This is a dynamic position requiring flexibility, with early mornings, evenings, and some weekend and school vacation work, suited to an energetic and motivated coach committed to the development and coaching of young athletes. Selection Criteria: You will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to: ASCTA Development Coach Accreditation and Lifeguard Qualification, along with First Aid, CPR and Blue Card (or willingness to obtain) Ability to plan and deliver structured age and ability appropriate training programs Experience assessing swimmer ability and supporting progression through squad pathways Understanding of athlete development, safety, and wellbeing in a youth or school environment Strong administrative capability, including maintaining records, reports, and program data Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, coaches, and staff Proven ability to build relationships and contribute positively within a team environment A proactive, energetic approach with a genuine passion for coaching and athlete development Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively For a full Position Description please refer to the attachment below.
