POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking an experienced HSE Manager to join the Hickory team on a large-scale Data Centre project, delivering a complex, high value build that requires strong safety leadership and excellent site execution.The HSE Manager will play a key leadership role in driving health, safety and environmental performance across a large-scale commercial construction project. This position is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving site-wide safety systems to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and promote a strong safety-first culture across all project teams and subcontractors. Working closely with the project team, site team and subcontractors, the HSE Manager will lead safety strategy on site, oversee risk management processes, and ensure all works are delivered in line with legislative requirements, project standards and best practice construction methodologies. A key focus of this role is proactive leadership, incident prevention, and continuous improvement across all aspects of site safety and environmental management. Diverse Opportunities: Gain exposure to a wide range of roles and industry leaders in our leading market company Industry Exposure: Work on a landmark Data Centre project within a leading commercial construction business RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the implementation and ongoing management of the Site Safety and Environmental Management Plans Oversee all site safety systems including inductions, inspections, audits and compliance activities Conduct site-wide inductions and lead regular safety walks and formal inspections Drive a strong consultation culture with site teams, subcontractors and management Monitor high-risk construction activities to ensure compliance with SWMS, procedures and legislative requirements Lead incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions using structured methodologies (e.g. ICAM where applicable) Facilitate risk management processes including weekly risk forecasting and project risk reviews Provide proactive leadership in identifying hazards and ensuring effective controls are implemented Work closely with site and project leadership to embed a strong safety culture across all levels Identify and coordinate training needs to ensure workforce competency and compliance Ensure environmental compliance is maintained in line with project and regulatory requirements TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE Tertiary qualifications in WHS or equivalent (Diploma, Cert IV with strong experience, or trade background with extensive HSE leadership experience) ICAM Lead Investigator qualification desirable Strong experience in commercial construction, ideally large-scale projects (data centres, infrastructure, or major builds) Proficiency in HSE systems (e.g. HammerTech or similar platforms) Strong understanding of high-risk construction activities including plant, structural works, and services installation Proven ability to lead site-based safety teams and influence senior stakeholders Strong communication skills with the ability to engage large and diverse site workforces Advanced reporting, documentation and audit capability Solid understanding of Victorian WHS legislation and construction compliance requirements Previous experience in safety auditing and site leadership ro If this sounds like your next opportunity, we would love to hear from you as soon as possible!
