This is a unique opportunity to work alongside dedicated Timorese healthcare professionals to improve patient care and safety within the national hospital system. Based at Hospital Nacional Guido Valadares , you will be responsible for working with the Leadership and Quality Programs Manager and program caregivers to support the St John of God International Health (SJGIH) development program plans. The overarching goal of the SJGIH plans is to: “Improve patient care across Timor-Leste by strengthening the capacity of Timorese healthcare workers, with the primary focus at HNGV.” Timor-Leste (East Timor) is a beautiful, rapidly developing country with a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes. More information about our capacity strengthening work in Timor-Leste can be found HERE The Position Act as an ambassador for SJGIH programs, and provide leadership to caregivers to uphold the SJGHC Vision, Mission and Values always. Use the SJGIH ‘approach to stable and sustainable development’, to work collaboratively with Program Managers and other Team Leaders across portfolios to design, plan and implement integrated activities to achieve the strategic actions as set out in the SJGIH plans. Provide on-the-ground leadership to design and implement capacity strengthening activities that will strengthen the capability and capacity of both Timorese caregivers and program counterparts to effectively deliver the Quality Programs into the future. Contribute to monitoring and evaluating design and activities, including quantitative and qualitative reporting that articulates and demonstrates progress against strategic plans. Provide oversight for the delivery, troubleshooting, monitoring and evaluation of the Quality Programs and addressing issues and lessons learnt. Build strong relationships with relevant stakeholders and provide them with expert advice on matters pertaining to Quality Programs, and ensure programs are meeting their needs and the Ministry of Health. Promote a professional environment that supports good healthcare practice, professionalism, clear communication and reporting, and a physical environment that demonstrates cleanliness, equipment/resource maintenance, and safe workspaces. Successful applicants must possess a nursing and/or midwifery qualification and be eligible for registration to practice as a nurse/midwife in Australia. You will also have completed a post-graduate qualification and/or have minimum two years’ experience working in a quality role across auditing, development & implementation of polices, Standard Operating Procedures, infection control and data management. We are seeking a dedicated health professional with two years leadership/management experience who can lead and manage outcomes at strategic and operational levels. This role will require a commitment to learn the local language of Tetun. Above all, patient care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.
