About the Role: We are seeking a Native Vegetation Officer (Compliance) to play a key role in protecting and conserving South Australia's native vegetation. This is an opportunity to apply your scientific and technical expertise to support the administration of the Native Vegetation Act 1991 (SA) 1991 (the Act) and the Native Vegetation Regulations 2017 (SA). The focus of the Native Vegetation Officer (Compliance) role is to undertake compliance functions under the Act such as detection of unauthorised clearing, on ground assessments and issuing compliance notices. The Native Vegetation Officer (Compliance) may also coordinate, manage and assess applications to clear areas of native vegetation pursuant to the Act and Regulations. As a Native Vegetation Officer (Compliance) , you will: Lead and support the delivery of compliance activities under the Native Vegetation Act and Regulations including on-ground assessments. Contributing to detection and compliance activities within a specialised team. Support the Native Vegetation Council and its committees, and other Departmental groups to assess and evaluate compliance with the Act and Regulations. What can we offer you! Meaningful and rewarding career. Contract: Ongoing Essential Qualifications: A degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management or other relevant discipline is essential. Special Conditions: May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties. You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions. Prior to being employed, the successful candidate will be required to provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), which is required to be renewed every three years. DEW will cover the cost of renewal. A current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness and ability to drive is essential. May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel, occasional overnight absences, and work outside of the normal hours of work. Regular fieldwork to undertake compliance activities, including the use of body-worn cameras, will be required. A successful applicant who is not currently employed by the Department for Environment and Water will be required to have an original photo identification document sighted and provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued within the last 12 months.
