To continue to deliver for our community, we are seeking a Youth Programs Officer who will be responsible for engaging, supporting and advocating for local young people aged 12-25 years across the Golden Plains Shire to live happy, healthy, active lives. This role will provide you the opportunity to: Provide casual support to the Community Wellbeing and Youth team in a range of situations including events, activities and programs and project support. Actively seek opportunities to improve the experience of young people and parents in events, activities and programs. Support the delivery of Youth Development programs and events in the North of the Shire, at the Youth Hub and other sites throughout the Shire, including leading the delivery of set activities. Support the Youth Development Officer to deliver services to meet the needs of the Golden Plains Shire community with an emphasis on the North of the Shire. Develop positive rapport with young people, parents, carers, team members and residents to gain trust quickly and establish strong positive working relationships. Create an environment that promotes inclusion and demonstrates positive role modelling to young people and the broader community. Empower and support young people to design and deliver and participate in events and projects. Our ideal candidate will have: Cert IV in Youth Development or equivalent with some experience in youth development or related fields or have lesser formal qualifications with significant work skills and relevant experience in youth development. Experience supporting events, programs and activities for young people and being a positive role model to young people. Ability to quickly establish and sustain positive rapport with young people/parents and community members to establish a positive working relationship. Demonstrated ability to understand and follow policies, procedures and instructions, with knowledge of relevant youth frameworks and legislation. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including ability to write clear and concise reports.
