The City of Salisbury invites Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified professionals to be appointed as Independent Members of the Salisbury Council Assessment Panel (CAP). The CAP is established under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and is responsible for determining development applications delegated to it by Council. Vacancies Council is seeking to appoint two (2) Independent Members: One appointment to commence immediately One appointment to commence September 2026 Panel Composition The CAP consists of five (5) members, comprising four (4) independent members and one (1) Elected Member appointed by Council. Council supports diversity in decision-making and encourages applications from women to assist in achieving balanced representation on the Panel. Skills and Experience Applicants must: Hold Planning Level 2 Accreditation under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 Demonstrate a strong interest in urban planning and development assessment Have qualifications and/or professional experience in fields such as: Urban or town planning Architecture or urban design Building or construction Surveying Engineering Environmental planning Or a closely related discipline A sound understanding of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, associated regulations, and development assessment processes is essential. Remuneration Independent Members are paid a sitting fee of $475 per meeting. Council also provides a financial contribution towards training required to maintain accreditation. Appointment Independent Members are appointed by Council.
