CBC Fremantle is a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition for boys in Years 7-12. Founded by the Christian Brothers in 1901, the College has served the local Fremantle community for over a century helping families to raise boys who continually strive for excellence and who exhibit Catholic Leadership in their quest to establish a more just and peaceful society. The Leader of Library and Information Services has a special responsibility for leading the College’s information and resource services and programs to enhance innovation, enterprise, curiosity, digital citizenship, and critical and creative thinking, and to support transformational teaching. This role is undertaken in conjunction with the Principal and other key staff and according to the Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice Tradition. Key Selection Criteria The successful applicant will: Demonstrate an understanding of the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice as articulated in the Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice Tradition. Be committed to the teachings and values of the Catholic Church. Be willing to become an active member of the CBC Fremantle community with a strong commitment to promoting and supporting the varied aspects of College life. Possess or be willing to complete the requirements for Accreditation to Work or Teach in a Catholic School. Articulate a clear vision for the development of library and information services. Be qualified and experienced in one or more of the following areas: Library Science, Information Services, Education, Communications & Media, or other relevant tertiary qualifications. Demonstrate a high-level of knowledge, skill and innovation with technology and media in library and/or education transformation. Knowledge of Oliver or another library management system is desirable. Clearly exhibit leadership characteristics including competence, intrinsic motivation, vision, integrity and diligence. Have excellent interpersonal skills which promote positive and mutually beneficial relationships, and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team. Have well developed written and oral communication skills. Have excellent organisational and time-management skills. Key Responsibilities The successful applicant will: Lead the strategic development, delivery, and ongoing evaluation of Library and Information Services across the College. Design and deliver weekly Year 7 Library lessons and provide specialist support to teachers to strengthen teaching and learning across year levels. Create, lead, and sustain a contemporary, inclusive, safe, and engaging Library learning environment, including oversight of Library-hosted student clubs and activities. Collaborate with the Deputy Principal of Teaching and Learning to select, integrate, organise, and share high-quality physical and digital resources that support transformational teaching and learning. Support and mentor teachers to embed deeper learning, critical and creative thinking, information literacy, digital citizenship, innovation, enterprise, and effective use of technology within curriculum programs. Promote a culture of curiosity, critical inquiry, and ethical engagement with information, fostering strong digital literacy, media fluency, and lifelong learning habits. Provide specialist instruction and professional learning for staff and students in information access, research skills, and digital curation. As a member of the Academic Board, contribute to whole-school academic and cross-curricular leadership and work collaboratively with Heads of Learning Areas to curate and review booklists. Ensure equitable access to information and resources that meet the diverse learning needs of all students. Manage the Library budget strategically, using data and staff and student feedback to inform resource investment and justify expenditure. Inspire and nurture a love of reading and the development of literacy across the school community. Lead, manage, and support the Library Team, including responsibility for performance development and professional learning. Undertake other duties as reasonably required by the Principal. Position Details Full-time (1.0 FTE) fixed term leave replacement contract for Term 3, 2026. Commencing 20 July 2026 and concluding 25 September 2026.
