Precision is the hallmark of scientific advancement. As a Validation Technician, you serve as the final technical gatekeeper, ensuring that complex instrumentation meets the exacting standards required to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. The Opportunity: Thermo Fisher Scientific is the world leader in serving science, and their Adelaide-based Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) is a critical hub for producing world-class instrumentation, particularly for the global mining and processing sectors. In an era where South Australia is rapidly cementing its reputation as a centre for advanced manufacturing and technical excellence, this role offers the chance to be at the forefront of product integrity. You will not merely test equipment; you will orchestrate the final validation "gate," ensuring every unit that leaves the facility is a testament to Australian engineering quality and global compliance. Key Benefits Strategic Quality Influence: Act as a critical decision-maker in the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) process, directly impacting customer satisfaction. Technical Sophistication: Engage with high-end electro-mechanical systems, including specialised software integration and sealed radioactive sources. Professional Autonomy: Leverage your troubleshooting expertise to identify, document, and resolve complex defects independently. Global Career Pathways: Align yourself with a premier global entity that prioritises internal growth and the mastery of Lean/PPI methodologies. The Role: Reporting to the Operations leadership, you will be responsible for the rigorous application testing and validation of sophisticated products. Your work ensures that every device exceeds internal and customer specifications. Spearhead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): Execute comprehensive validation protocols to confirm product compliance prior to global dispatch. Orchestrate Software Integration: Install, program, and validate firmware and software configurations across a diverse range of devices. Optimise Analyser Performance: Conduct sample loading and calibration to ensure instrumentation precision in demanding industrial environments. Troubleshoot Complex Defects: Identify mechanical and electrical non-conformances, documenting root causes to drive long-term engineering refinements. Uphold Rigorous Standards: Maintain meticulous records and documentation in alignment with ISO 9001:2015 and internal Quality Management Systems. Navigate Safety Protocols: Safely manage the handling of sealed radioactive sources and radiation devices within a highly regulated framework. About You: You are a meticulous professional who balances a hands-on technical aptitude with a disciplined approach to quality assurance. You thrive in environments where accuracy is non-negotiable. Technical Foundation: A minimum of a Certificate II in Electronics (or equivalent) with a strong aptitude for electrical and mechanical troubleshooting. Interpretive Skill: Proven ability to read and navigate complex manufacturing assembly drawings and electrical/pneumatic schematics. Quality Expertise: A sound understanding of ISO 9001:2015 principles and at least 3 years of experience in a high-stakes quality control or validation environment. Analytical Mindset: Proficiency in structured problem-solving (Lean/PPI) with the ability to use Root-Cause Counter-Measure (RCCM) tools effectively. Collaborative Spirit: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across Production, Engineering, and Quality teams. Industry Context: Previous experience within the mining or process instrumentation sectors is considered a distinct advantage.
