Due to an increased demand within our business, SYPAQ are seeking a Project Manager with Defence experience for a long-term contract role with a Defence client. The position may be performed from any location within Australia, with a preference for Canberra. The role offers a start in the new financial year and is a contract of 12 months. Overview: The Project Manager provides specialist project management support across a range of capability acquisition and sustainment programs within all Defence domains, to deliver specialist support for Ordnance products. This position will enable the achievement of strategic objectives, provide subject matter expertise in project management principles and concepts, and support the successful achievement of outcomes across sub-projects. Roles and responsibilities: Assisting in the development of Business Cases and other Capability-related documents. Assisting in the preliminary assessment of the Fundamental Input to Capability (FIC) options to support the need statement. Shaping, delivering and guiding messaging of key Weapons Production projects to senior Defence stakeholders and industry / Strategic Partners as needed. Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Establishing performance measures and providing project support. Analysing and interpreting project performance against agreed plans and developing and evaluating strategies to achieve project outcomes. Conducting requirements development and analysis. Undertaking objective, systematic analysis and drawing accurate conclusions based on information gathered from the project team, end users, and stakeholders (including dependent projects) on solutions and products that support the successful design, development and delivery of capabilities Applying established technical, operational, professional and administrative activities, procedures, practices and project management methodologies. Applying professional knowledge and experience to improve processes and practices to achieve the required Weapons Production outcomes. Preparing documents to support executive briefings and project planning. Recommending approaches for risk identification, analysis, treatment and control, using expertise to improve risk management practices. Taking the initiative to resolve issues and risks by identifying and developing ideas through analysis of alternative courses of action and their implications. Essential skills, qualifications and experience: Minimum 10 years plus experience within Defence. Demonstrated experience in Strategic Business Advice. Knowledge of Defence Writing Standards and internal Defence processes. Demonstrated experience on complex stakeholder management skills.
