About the Opportunity We are looking for a safety-focused and customer-oriented Gas Fitter – First Response & Metering Technician to join our Distribution Operations team. Reporting to the Manager Field Operations VIC within Distribution Operations, this is a hands-on field-based role where you will help deliver safe and reliable gas services to our customers and communities. You will respond to gas emergencies, complete meter and gas service work, and work as part of a supportive and inclusive operational team committed to safety, respect and collaboration. Key Responsibilities: Respond to gas emergencies and leaks, investigate faults, classify leaks in accordance with procedures, and safely restore gas supply to customers. Perform gas meter installations, replacements, disconnections, reconnections, leak repairs and related metering activities for domestic and commercial customers. Modify, repair, test and maintain gas fitting lines and consumer pipework while ensuring compliance with company procedures, legislation and industry standards. Deliver high-quality customer service by communicating effectively with customers, providing technical support, and completing work safely, efficiently and professionally. Maintain a strong focus on safety, risk management and environmental responsibilities, including safe work practices, hazard identification, escalation of issues and supporting AGIG’s sustainability and net zero goals. Work collaboratively within a field operations team, participate in after-hours rosters, use dispatch and mobile technology systems effectively, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence. About You Gas Fitting qualifications with the appropriate registered licence and a current C Class Driver’s Licence. Experience in gas distribution, gas fitting or related field operations, with strong technical and problem-solving capability. Strong commitment to safety, compliance and maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, contractors and team members while delivering excellent customer service. Comfortable using hand tools, mobile technology, computer systems and interpreting maps, plans and technical information. Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, manage competing priorities and participate in an after-hours roster.
