ABOUT THE ROLE Bennco Group is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support recently awarded construction works across the Pilbara and remote WA. JOB DETAILS Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Project Accountant is a key role to ensure that the revenue and costs are recorded in the project ERP system in a timely manner and they reconcile with the general ledger. You will be expected to work closely with the project teams and the corporate accounting team to deliver accurate project results while working to strict month-end deadlines; to provide the leadership team with the confidence they need to make strategic business decisions. ROLE REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience: 3 years of experience in project-based accounting. Technical Skills: Direct experience with ERP systems (e.g., Xero, MYOB etc.) and Project Management software (e.g., Simpro, Procore, Premier, etc.) Advanced proficiency in Excel for data analysis Communication: The ability to translate "accounting-speak" into actionable insights for non-financial operational managers. Attention to Detail: A "detective" mindset when it comes to reconciling disparate data sets. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Monthly Project Performance: Work closely with Project Managers and Operational Managers each month to review and verify revenue recognition and cost accruals across all projects, making sure that everything is completed within the month-end timeline. System Reconciliation: Perform monthly reconciliations between the Project Management System and the General Ledger to ensure data integrity and resolve any discrepancies. Payroll approvals: review the fortnightly payroll to make sure it is accurate before it is finalised and paid. Debt collection: Work with the project team and corporate accounting department to follow up on any overdue debts to minimise the number of overdue debts outstanding and to adhere to the KPI of debtor days. Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee project setup, maintenance, and closure within the project accounting system, ensuring all financial coding is accurate. Budget vs. Actual Analysis: Monitor project budgets, track variances, and provide insightful commentary to leadership on project profitability. Audit & Compliance: Prepare project-related schedules for internal and external audits and ensure compliance with contract financial terms. Annual budget process: Work closely with the divisional managers and CFO in setting the annual budget and any re-forecasts. System improvements: Work closely with the CFO on identifying and implementing any system improvements and any potential new ERP system implementations.
