The Opportunity This newly created APS6 opportunity has been established to strengthen the organisation’s proactive approach to WHS and wellbeing. It offers the chance to step into a visible and impactful role where you can shape processes, influence strategy and drive meaningful improvement initiatives across the agency. With broad exposure across operational and strategic WHS activities, you will play a key role in managing WHS risk registers, reviewing and enhancing WHS policies and procedures, supporting psychosocial wellbeing initiatives and providing trusted advice to stakeholders across the business. The Role The APS6 WHS & Wellbeing Advisor will provide high-level WHS advice and support across the organisation while contributing to the development of a proactive and positive safety culture. Responsibilities include: Providing evidence-based WHS advice to managers and employees on operational and strategic matters Interpreting and applying Commonwealth WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice Leading WHS and wellbeing projects and continuous improvement initiatives Supporting the implementation of WHS and psychosocial wellbeing strategies Managing and maintaining the WHS Risk Register, including reviewing risks, controls and mitigation strategies Reviewing, updating and contributing to WHS policies, procedures and guidance materials to ensure legislative compliance and best practice Managing WHS incidents, injury notifications and investigations, including root cause analysis Coordinating wellbeing programs, WHS awareness initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities Preparing reports, dashboards, briefs and committee papers for senior leadership Supporting Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and promoting a positive WHS culture across the organisation The Ideal Person You are an experienced WHS professional with a strong understanding of Commonwealth WHS legislation and a proven ability to operate effectively in complex environments. You have hands-on experience managing and maintaining WHS risk registers, as well as reviewing, updating and improving WHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practice. You are confident providing clear, practical and well-reasoned advice to a range of stakeholders and take a proactive, solutions-focused approach to workplace safety and wellbeing. You work collaboratively, manage competing priorities effectively and are comfortable balancing operational requirements with continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications in WHS, Human Resources or a related discipline would be highly regarded, along with a genuine commitment to building safe, healthy and positive workplace cultures.
