The Opportunity This is a standout opportunity for an APS6 HR professional who enjoys working at the intersection of data, insight and workforce strategy. Sitting within a high-performing People team, this role is central to how the organisation understands its workforce and makes informed decisions about its future direction. You will take ownership of HR reporting and workforce insights that directly inform executive decision making. Working across both Excel and Power BI, you will help shape how workforce data is used, presented and understood across the organisation. This is not just reporting for reporting’s sake — your work will actively influence workforce planning, capability priorities and organisational strategy. Alongside reporting and analytics, you will also gain exposure to broader HR activities, including workforce planning initiatives, pay and recruitment support, and mentoring junior staff. It is a well-rounded role that offers both depth in analytics and breadth across HR. The Role The APS6 Senior HR Advisor will contribute to the delivery of HR reporting, workforce planning and strategic HR support. Key responsibilities include: Delivering monthly HR dashboards and executive-level workforce insights Preparing external reporting including WGEA, APS Census and Annual Report requirements Supporting workforce planning activities and implementation of workforce strategies Conducting HR data analysis and research to inform workforce decision making Providing advice to senior leaders and managers on HR reporting and workforce matters Ensuring accuracy and integrity of HR data through regular reviews and stakeholder coordination Delivering HR reporting across both Excel and Power BI systems Supporting improvements to reporting processes, tools and data visualisation Mentoring and supporting junior team members Assisting with pay and recruitment activities as required (training provided) Contributing to broader People team priorities during peak periods The Ideal Person You are a detail-focused HR professional with strong capability in HR reporting, data analysis and workforce insights. You enjoy working with data, identifying trends and translating information into clear and practical recommendations that support decision making. You bring strong Excel skills and, ideally, experience using Power BI, particularly in the context of HR reporting and workforce analytics. You are comfortable working with multiple systems and maintaining a high level of accuracy while managing competing priorities. You are collaborative, proactive and confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels. You take a structured and methodical approach to your work, while also being open to supporting broader HR activities as required. A qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline would be highly regarded, along with an understanding of Commonwealth HR frameworks or a willingness to quickly develop this knowledge.
