Position Title: Recycling Centre Assistant Location: Bundamba Corps, Bundamba Classification: General Retail Award 2010 – Level 2 Status: Casual About the Role The Recycling Centre Assistant supports the Recycling Centre Manager and Corps Officers in the daily operations of Salvos Container Recycling – Bundamba . This role focuses on delivering a friendly, positive customer experience while contributing to efficient centre operations that uphold The Salvation Army’s mission. Key duties include receiving, counting, and sorting recyclable containers brought in by customers for refund. The role also assists with the safe operation and maintenance of the centre, including forklift operation and driving an automatic Pantech truck when required. Key Responsibilities Support the daily operations of Salvos Container Recycling Bundamba to ensure the centre runs efficiently. Assist with opening and closing procedures, maintaining cleanliness, stacking and moving crates using a forklift, and driving the Pantech truck when needed. Provide respectful, friendly, and helpful customer service at all times. Count and sort containers, ensuring correct storage and preparation for third‑party collection. Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑presented retail area. Operate the cash register, complete reconciliations, and handle cash in line with TSA policy. Follow all site processes and procedures. Perform additional duties as directed by the manager. Qualifications & Experience Demonstrated customer service experience in a retail environment with the ability to work collaboratively in a team. Experience in the recycling or transport industry (desirable). Strong time‑management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively. Unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence (essential).
