Project Engineer About GenusPlus Group GenusPlus Group (ASX:GNP) is an end-to-end service provider for essential power and telecommunications infrastructure. We provide an integrated service delivered through four key complementary businesses to our clients in the resources, power, utilities, and telecommunications sectors across Australia. The Project HCC REZ Transmission works comprises the rebuilding of Transmission line corridors between, Kurri Kurri and a new substation on Hebden Road, Hebdon known as Eastern Hub Sub-Transmission Switching Station (STSS) and a new substation known as Muswellbrook STSS to TransGrid's Muswellbrook Bulk Supply Point (BSP). Works will be conducted within the clients existing transmission corridors, public land and private land. The new circuits will be constructed of steel poles with embedded foundations. The works will be delivered over several separable portions; however, these separable portions relate to staging access to the client's transmission corridors. The Role Based out of our office in Newcastle, the Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of this major transmission project. The position involves overseeing on‑site civil works, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, coordinating with construction teams, and contributing to the safe, timely, and efficient execution of project activities. This role requires a technically strong, detail‑oriented professional with 5-7 years of experience in civil engineering within large‑scale infrastructure or construction environments. Key Responsibilities Performing overall quality control of civil works and reporting regularly on project progress. Interpreting client requirements, scopes of work, and technical specifications. Developing preliminary and finalised Bills of Materials (BOMs) and reconciling them against the latest drawings. Raising, recording, and expediting Technical Queries (TQs). Assisting with the review and coordination of construction schedules. Producing and expediting Workpacks for inspection and testing. Raising, recording, and expediting Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs). Assessing drawing changes for potential financial or schedule impacts. Supporting site teams to ensure safe and compliant delivery of civil works. Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering. 5-7 years' experience in civil engineering or project engineering roles. Strong safety record and sound knowledge of WHS legislation, Australian standards, and industry best practice. Ability to interpret design drawings, specifications, and scopes of work. Familiarity with drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or SolidWorks. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks across concurrent work fronts. High‑level analytical and problem‑solving capability. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Experience with scheduling tools such as Primavera (preferred). Desirable Skills / Experience / Qualifications Civil engineering experience or a strong civil construction knowledge base. Experience within a professional engineering firm, utilities, resources, or construction industry. Experience in earthworks or piling activities is highly desirable , particularly within large‑scale infrastructure or transmission projects.
