This ASX-listed defence and space technology company is headquartered in Canberra and operates at the forefront of advanced engineering and innovation. The business is currently in a significant growth phase, supported by major contracts already secured and a strong forward sales pipeline. International expansion is underway, including the establishment of new teams in Europe, alongside multiple high-value projects — including a major multi-year advanced technology development program. As the organisation scales globally, it continues to strengthen its systems, processes, and governance frameworks to support sustainable growth across its key divisions. The Opportunity This newly created Finance Manager role sits above the line and plays a central role in ensuring the integrity of group financial reporting. Reporting to an experienced Senior Finance Manager, you will take ownership of the end-to-end month-end process and deliver consolidated results across a global group structure. You will work closely with project and operational teams to see contracts through to completion, ensuring revenue is recognised accurately in line with AASB 15 and other relevant standards. This is a pure financial reporting role, well suited to candidates transitioning from audit or those with a strong interest in technical financial accounting. You will lead reconciliations, analyse financial results, enhance reporting templates, and strengthen processes and controls to support continued international growth. Exposure to foreign currency and consolidation complexities will be a key aspect of the role. The position is based on-site in central Canberra, where regular presence and engagement with stakeholders are important to success. The Role Key responsibilities include: Oversee and deliver the consolidated month-end close within five working days Own balance sheet reconciliations and ensure strong financial controls Manage half-year and year-end statutory reporting requirements Apply technical accounting standards, including AASB 15, across complex contracts Support audit processes and regulatory compliance obligations Contribute to tax compliance and transfer pricing documentation Improve reporting templates, policies and processes across the global group Drive continuous improvement and financial governance initiatives The Ideal Person You are likely stepping in from Manager or Senior Manager level in Big 4 audit or CFO Advisory or operating in a similar technical financial reporting role within a listed or multinational environment. You are commercially astute but fundamentally a financial reporting / external audit specialist. You enjoy getting under the hood, understanding how a manufacturing or production environment works, and ensuring the accounting treatment reflects operational reality. You are proactive, critically analytical and prepared to challenge existing practice. You think beyond the numbers, ask better questions and take ownership of outcomes. You are not seeking a short-term stepping stone, but a role where you can build, shape and contribute meaningfully as the business grows.
