We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Intake and Assessment Officer to join our Medicare Mental Health Centre. This role is a critical first point of contact for people accessing mental health support and plays a key role in ensuring individuals receive timely, appropriate and coordinated care. You will engage with people presenting to the service, conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social and risk assessments, and support individuals to navigate the mental health system through warm referrals and brief interventions where appropriate. The role requires confidence in assessing suicide and violence risk, developing action plans, and escalating high-risk presentations promptly. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will participate in intake and access systems, case reviews, clinical supervision, and continuous quality improvement activities. You will also work closely with community and partner services to support integrated, person-centred care. About You Experience in mental health intake, assessment and triage, ideally in a community or primary care setting Demonstrated ability to conduct bio-psycho-social and risk assessments, including suicide risk Experience developing and implementing safety and risk mitigation plans Ability to provide brief interventions for mild to moderate mental health presentations Knowledge of local mental health services and referral pathways Strong engagement, communication and clinical documentation skills Ability to work confidently and collaboratively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment Perks & Benefits Access to salary package up to $15,900 and $2,650 for meal and entertainment p/a of tax-free income Access to supportive clinical supervision and EAP Competitive pay, discounts at hundreds of retailers and free parking Opportunity to work with a supportive and experience team to develop the new service Requirements Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, health, behavioural or social sciences, community services, or a related field.
