Job Description This is a key state-based safety leadership role within Ramsay Health Care’s National Safety Team (NST), responsible for supporting the governance, management, and continuous improvement of safety across a complex healthcare environment. Operating within the national RamAusSMS framework, the role is instrumental in ensuring safety systems are effectively embedded, monitored, and continuously improved across Queensland facilities. Acting as a critical link between the National Safety Manager, operational leaders, and site-based teams, you will drive strong compliance, risk management, and safety performance outcomes across the state. This is a highly influential position that combines operational safety leadership, regulatory oversight, and strategic risk management within one of Australia’s largest and most complex healthcare organisations. What You’ll Do In this role, you will support the delivery, governance, and continuous improvement of Ramsay’s safety framework across Queensland facilities, ensuring strong alignment to national safety standards and operational priorities. Key responsibilities include: Supporting the implementation, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of the RamAusSMS safety management system Leading and supporting facility-based WHS Coordinators to drive consistent safety practices and performance across sites Monitoring safety trends, emerging risks, and legislative changes, providing practical insights and recommendations to stakeholders Contributing to the development and execution of the National Safety Plan and broader safety initiatives Leading or supporting incident investigations, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities and corrective action management Overseeing risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting processes across facilities Ensuring timely, accurate, and meaningful safety reporting to the National Safety Team and key stakeholders Supporting accreditation, certification, and regulatory compliance activities across the state Participating in internal and external audits, including follow-up actions and continuous improvement initiatives Supporting the delivery of safety training, orientation, and capability uplift programs across facilities Leading or contributing to project work aligned to national safety priorities and strategic initiatives Providing expert advice and guidance to strengthen safety systems, governance frameworks, and risk controls across the organisation What You’ll Need This role requires a strong safety professional with experience operating in complex, regulated environments and influencing across multiple stakeholders. Essential experience and capabilities: Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety (WHS). Experience managing WHS within large, complex organisations. Strong project management capability. Proven ability to influence senior leaders and operational managers on safety priorities. Experience in safety leadership, policy development, and system implementation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of risk management frameworks, legislation, and compliance requirements. Experience developing and embedding risk management systems and strategies. Desirable experience: Healthcare industry experience. Additional qualifications in WHS, Risk Management, Business or Health Science. Workplace training qualification (Cert IV level preferred). Auditing qualifications and/or experience.
