We’re on the hunt for an exceptional Sample Preparation Manager to lead our high-energy sample preparation facility in Zillmere, north Brisbane . This isn’t just a management role – it’s a chance to shape a team culture, grow careers, and lead with purpose. As the leader of our Zillmere Sample Preparation facility, you'll be at the helm of a dynamic team of 50–120 staff (scaling with workload and season), delivering critical sample preparation services for mining and mineral exploration clients. Because Zillmere operates as a standalone site, separate from our Brisbane analytical laboratory, you'll also perform the role of ‘Site Manager’, giving you ownership and autonomy over operations. You'll be hands-on when it counts, but make no mistake, our people are your greatest priority. You'll be backed by a supportive Brisbane laboratory management team and bolstered by strong onsite supervisory, administrative, safety, quality, warehouse and maintenance teams, so you can focus on what you do best: leading, developing, and celebrating our people. Our clients regularly visit the Zillmere facility, so you'll also be the face of the site, bringing professionalism, technical credibility, and a genuine passion for the industry. The day to day What you’ll be doing: People Leadership – inspire, motivate, develop and retain a large, diverse workforce; champion a positive, inclusive team culture where people genuinely thrive Performance & Development – drive meaningful performance conversations, build succession pathways, and celebrate individual and team achievements Financial Management – oversee site budgets, manage costs effectively, and contribute to the commercial performance of the facility Facilities & Operations Management – ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient day-to-day running of the site, including asset management Client Engagement – build and nurture strong client relationships, deliver exceptional service standards, and represent the site with confidence and professionalism Hands On Problem Solving – roll up your sleeves when needed to troubleshoot equipment and process issues with a practical, solutions-focused mindset Continuous Improvement – identify opportunities to improve workflows, safety, turnaround times, and overall site performance What we’re looking for: Essential Demonstrated excellence in people leadership – you have a proven track record of leading, motivating, and developing large teams Strong performance management skills – you have courageous, constructive conversations and support your people to grow Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills – you connect easily with people at all levels Strong client focus – you build trust, manage expectations, and deliver on your promises Excellent time management and prioritisation – you keep multiple balls in the air without dropping them Ability to operate with autonomy – you’re a self-starter who thrives with remote management support and takes ownership without needing to be micromanaged Highly Regarded Experience in Sample Preparation techniques for Geochemistry samples (don’t let this stop you applying – we can teach the technical; we can’t teach natural leadership aptitude) Mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting experience in a laboratory or processing environment Previous experience managing a multi-disciplinary or high-volume workforce Background in mining services, resources, or analytical laboratory environments Why join us?
