APACE WA is a community organisation with a simple but powerful vision: a greener planet and a more connected world. What began in 1985 as a small group of North Fremantle locals passionate about the environment and appropriate technology, has grown into a respected not for profit with deep roots in conservation, education and community. Today, our work spans native plant propagation, seed management, revegetation services and education programs, while creating meaningful work and volunteering opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds. At the heart of everything we do is care: care for our environment, our communities, and one another. The Role This role is an important part of APACE's nursery operations and client relationships. You'll be the main point of contact for our retail customers, including residents of councils who participate in our annual native plant subsidy scheme. Working within the nursery production team, you'll help ensure propagation targets are met, a diverse range of native plants are on offer, seedlings are maintained and presented in good health and record keeping and stock takes are accurate and relevant. It's a hands on, fast paced role that suits someone who enjoys customer service, sharing knowledge, problem solving, and being part of a purpose driven team. What you'll be doing Providing warm, professional service to customers on site, by phone and email Creating a vibrant, profitable retail nursery that meets demand Undertaking regular stocktakes using software such as Evergreen Connect, Square and Xero Supporting pricing, forecasting and production planning Coordinating the Annual Plant Subsidy Scheme Building relationships through client visits and industry engagement Engaging in regular horticultural tasks in propagation and maintaining plant health. What we're looking for You don't need to know everything on day one, but you do need curiosity, care and a genuine interest in native plants and conservation. Essential experience and skills: At least 1 years' experience within a production nursergy At least 1 years' experience in customer service or a similar role Experience must be specifically within garden centre or nursery environments Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with a broad client base Good organisational skills and attention to detail Ability to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines A positive, flexible and solutions-focused approach Confidence using systems such as Evergreen Connect, Xero, Square and Microsoft programs (or the ability to learn quickly) Prior knowledge or willingness to learn, indigenous plant species of the Swan Coastal Plain and Darling Scarp Prior experience with native plant species is preferred Australian work rights Being part of Apace Working at APACE means more than just doing a job.
