Kitchen Hand About the Role Commencing ASAP. Well together with and reporting directly to the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for maintaining the standards of food preparation and presentation with varying shifts over Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. About You We are seeking an emotionally aware reliable professional who can work within our high quality buffet style kitchen environment providing three meals a day and morning and afternoon teas on occasion for 280 residents. This role is about being organised and structured to ensure high volume provision in set 2 hour serving time frames. You will have a positively charged character and are a person who is in alignment with our mission, vision and values. You will have a strong and centered personality, be team orientated, flexible, proactive, optimistic, a good communicator and have a commitment to high quality work and be efficient in delivery. Selection Criteria Experience in food preparation. Ability to work under pressure and managing competing tasks Must be competent to work autonomously and have sound judgement and decision-making skills Experience in a collegiate environment and/or education is not a necessity but is an advantage Must have an eye for detail and hold a high bar for quality and aesthetics of works performed. Duties will Include but are not limited to Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment Preparing meats and vegetables for cooking Preparing and maintaining salad bar items Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements Storing food in dry store and temperature controlled facilities Cleaning preparation and service areas Dishwashing as and when required Assist with Kitchen laundry items Ensuring presentation of buffet is exceptional at all times Plating Late Meals Requirements Availability and willingness to work outside standard hours as reasonably required, however we think you will find the hours far better than the hotel/restaurant/casino environment.
