Mount Barker District Council Audit and Risk Committee 2 x Independent Members – Applications Invited Mount Barker District Council is inviting applications for the role of independent members of the Council’s Audit and Risk Committee to fill vacancies from October 2026. The Audit and Risk Committee terms of reference are available at: https://www.mountbarker.sa.gov.au/council/meetings/audit-and-risk-committee In addition to the typical functions of an Audit and Risk Committee, Mount Barker District Council is characterised by two unique circumstances being: 1. Major and rapid growth that sees Mount Barker forecast to become the second largest city (to Adelaide) in South Australia within the next decade; and 2. Council being the largest Local Government provider of wastewater services in South Australia. The associated implications for Council are significant. Applications are encouraged from people with experience providing independent assurance and advice to councils on accounting, financial management, internal controls, risk management and governance matters. Knowledge of wastewater and the delivery of major projects would also be advantageous but is not essential. A sitting fee (currently $463.92) is payable to independent members for each Committee meeting/workshop attended/participated in. The Committee meets at least six times per annum. Appointments are for a term of up to 4 years. Applications to be marked confidential, include a brief covering letter and short supporting CV/statement of knowledge and experience, and be directed to Team Leader Risk and Governance via mountbarker.sa.gov.au and be received by 5pm Wednesday 10 June 2026. Applications will be treated in confidence. Enquiries to Sue Miller, Team Leader Risk and Governance, telephone (08) 8391 7.
