Stunning Sydney CBD office with panoramic city views Broad in-house remit across commercial & retail leasing, contracts, and disputes High level of autonomy with direct access to senior stakeholders and Directors We are seeking an experienced In-House Legal Counsel to join a well-established commercial property group based in Sydney CBD. This is a key legal role supporting a diverse commercial and retail property portfolio, providing end-to-end legal guidance across leasing, contracts, disputes, and broader operational matters. The successful candidate will act as the primary in-house legal support across the business, working closely with Property Management, Facilities, Finance, and Leasing teams. You will provide commercially practical legal advice, manage leasing documentation, and support day-to-day legal and risk matters across the portfolio. This role suits a commercially minded legal professional who enjoys autonomy, variety, and working closely with senior stakeholders in a fast-paced property environment. Key Responsibilities Draft, review and negotiate commercial and retail leasing documentation (leases, renewals, variations, assignments, surrenders, licences) Provide legal advice on leasing interpretation and property-related matters Support lease administration and portfolio-wide legal compliance Review and draft commercial contracts, NDAs, supplier and service agreements Assist with disputes, claims, and external legal coordination Liaise with tenants, solicitors, agents, and internal stakeholders Maintain legal templates, registers, and documentation systems Support governance, compliance, and risk management initiatives Provide legal input across operational and strategic business matters About You 8–10 years’ experience in commercial, property, or leasing law Strong background in commercial and/or retail leasing Experience drafting and negotiating complex legal documentation Ability to work autonomously in an in-house or landlord-side environment Strong commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills Experience managing disputes and external legal providers Admitted to practice in NSW with an unrestricted practising certificate Highly Regarded Previous in-house legal experience within property or REIT environment Experience with landlord-side leasing and portfolio management Exposure to commercial property disputes and risk matters Background in a fast-paced property or legal services environment Why This Role Broad and varied in-house legal exposure High level of autonomy and ownership Direct engagement with senior leadership Fast-paced, commercially driven environment Genuine opportunity to shape and influence legal processes across the business Reference number: 4037963 Profession:Property & DevelopmentPARALEGAL Company: Gough Recruitment AU Date posted: 18th May, 2026
