About the work unit / facility Research Unit / Corporate Services / Townsville University Hospital About your opportunity The First Nations Research Coordinator position has been newly established to support the culturally safe coordination, engagement, and delivery of research projects involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Townsville Hospital and Health Service. The role is required to strengthen community engagement, support participant recruitment and retention, assist with culturally appropriate communication and consent processes, and ensure research activities align with First Nations health priorities, ethical standards, and Queensland Health commitments to Closing the Gap. This position will provide essential support to research teams to enhance equity, accessibility, and culturally responsive research practices across current and future research initiatives. (AO5) 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available Requirements: Mandatory qualifications and proof of registration Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island Community. Highly desirable – Cert IV or Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, or equivalent experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities within a research or health setting. Recent experience in research coordination or research support will be highly desirable . Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certificate or willingness to acquire within one month of commencement.
