The Role The Analytics Solution Engineer is required to apply subject matter expertise and professional judgement to deliver practical, value-driven analytics solutions that support insight generation, reporting, and informed decision-making for stakeholders of the National Quality Agenda IT System (NQA ITS). The role is responsible for translating complex business and regulatory requirements into effective analytical products, leveraging data integration, data modelling, enterprise reporting, and advanced analytics using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and modern data warehousing approaches. As a hands-on practitioner this role is also required to develop and demonstrate early-stage AI/ML proof-of-concepts and applied solutions, with a clear focus on delivering tangible business value. This role is full-time and fixed term to 30 June 2027 at ACECQA Band 6 ($126,436- $140,976) . The key duties of the position include: Key Accountabilities • Collaborate, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to translate complex business and regulatory requirements into robust, scalable analytical products that meet stakeholder needs and regulatory obligations, including managing complex data requests. • Develop and demonstrate early‑stage AI/ML proof‑of‑concepts and applied solutions, with a clear focus on delivering tangible business value. • Deliver and support end-to-end analytical solutions that provide actionable insights, high quality reporting and evidence-based decision support using Microsoft Fabric resources, building data pipelines, data modelling, data warehousing and Power BI reporting, in line with stakeholder requirements of the National Quality Agenda IT System (NQA ITS). • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, data models, and analytical assets, applying modern data warehousing and best‑practice analytics approaches • Support data integration projects where required. • Lead the exploration of AI/ML solutions against NQA ITS data sets, including identifying opportunities, assessing feasibility, demonstrating value, and supporting transition to production where appropriate. • Develop and evaluate predictive and prescriptive models to support strategic planning and operational analysis, with a focus on explainability and practical application. • Stay current with emerging data science tools, technologies, and methodologies and promote continuous improvement. Eligibility Key Selection Criteria Essential • High level of proficiency across the Power BI and Microsoft Fabric stack, covering both data ingestion and warehousing • Demonstrated experience applying data science or machine‑learning techniques in an analytics or business intelligence context • Ability to explain why particular models and parameters have or should be used. • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). • Strong practical understanding of statistical analysis and predictive modelling techniques. • Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure preferred). • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or an equivalent level of industry experience. Desirable • Experience in government, education, or regulated sectors. • Familiarity with data governance frameworks and ethical AI principles. • Certifications in data science or cloud technologies (e.g. Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate). • Microsoft Certifications across Fabric such as DP600 and DP700 Notes How to apply The closing date for applications is 31 May 2026 at 11.59pm.
