The Bureau of Meteorology is advancing its Community Engagement, Customer, and Data Solutions capabilities to strengthen public safety and risk management initiatives across Australia. The team comprises Weather and Climate Services, Real-time Data Services, and the National Weather Graphics Unit, collaboratively providing real-time and historical climate data to support customers in making well-informed decisions. The Data Business Officer plays a key role in supporting the business management of C&DS customers. The role provides end to end coordination of customer finance, cost recovery, invoicing, and subscriptions, while also supporting customer care activities and product delivery channels. The position ensures compliance with cost recovery and financial frameworks, maintains data integrity within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, and contributes to continuous improvement in customer service and satisfaction. In addition to the business management of C&DS customers you will be required to support the wider C&DS customer service team to help customers understand available data products and services, resolve issues, and support product channel delivery. Delivery channels include anonymous FTP, Registered User FTP, GIS2Web, and the soon to be established Amazon Marketplace. The role plays a critical function in ensuring compliant application of cost recovery arrangements, effective customer account management, and high standards of customer care, while supporting continuous improvement in systems, processes and service delivery. The key duties of the position include: The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Coordinate and manage customer invoicing, subscription renewals, account administration and reconciliation activities across the C&DS services. Ensure accurate and compliant application of cost‑recovery charges in line with Government and Bureau policies and financial frameworks. Support annual pricing and subscription renewal processes, including coordination with customers, Team Leaders and corporate support areas. Prepare routine and ad‑hoc customer, financial and performance reports to support decision‑making and planning. Maintain high standards of data accuracy, integrity and assurance within the CRM system, including customer, product, pricing and financial records. Contribute to the design, maintenance and improvement of customer, product delivery and reporting systems and processes. Analyse customer and financial data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing advice to Team Leaders as required. Provide administrative and coordination support for onboarding new customers, including account setup, subscriptions, licensing and delivery channel access. Support delivery of Bureau data products through multiple channels, including anonymous FTP, Registered User FTP, GIS2Web and the soon to be established Amazon Marketplace. Assist customers to understand available data products, services, licensing conditions and delivery options. Support the broader C&DS customer service team by responding to enquiries, resolving issues and assisting with escalations in a timely and professional manner. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers. Contribute to customer satisfaction, retention, and service quality initiatives and identify, manage and escalate risks related to customer accounts, cost‑recovery, compliance or service delivery. Work collaboratively across C&DS and with corporate teams such as Finance, Legal and IT to support efficient service delivery.
